Red Rocks Ampitheater

Sharing is Caring

Public performances have been held at Red Rocks, located about 10 miles west of Denver, Colorado for over a hundred years. The Beatles, Jemi Hendrix, and U2 have performed here as well as hundreds of other performers. U2\’s performance in 1983 was used as footage for their concert film; U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky. That video was shot on a foggy and rainy night which led to dramatic footage and lighting and was acclaimed as a one of the top 50 greatest rock and roll moments by Rolling Stone Magazine.

In 1983 I was introduced to U2 by my college roommate who was from Aberdeen Scotland and have been a fan ever since.  I may have missed the concert but I do own the DVD of it and recommend buying it if you enjoy concert videos. We made a point of visiting Red Rocks since I remember the concert\’s dramatic eeriness so well. We caught it on a perfect fall day as we made our way throughout the area.

Red Rocks is truly a one of a kind place so if you are in Denver or headed west on 70 towards the mountains I would take the time and visit. Do better than we did, though, and go when you can see a great band playing.
