Leaving Yellowstone

We made a great trip out west and spent two days camping and exploring Yellowstone National Park. We\’ve been able to see many places in the United States but Yellowstone is at the top of my list when it comes to natural beauty. Despite tens of thousands of people visiting the rangers and staff do a great job of keeping the place clean and as close to \”wild\” as possible. Like seeing wildlife? Then you have come to the right place as we saw bears, moose, a mountain lion and then these elk. It\’s truly a one of kind park and a place you need to put on your bucket list.

Upon leaving, we got up at the crack of dawn, got packed and headed out with virtually no one on the road. Even though this was late August the temperature was right at freezing which didn\’t seem to bother this heard of elk. While these are decent pictures they don\’t do this scene justice. We had just come around a bend, it was a clear sky with the sun coming up and illuminating the mountains in the background. There was a stream behind the elk and there was a hint of fog coming up. We were able to stop and get these photos which didn\’t seem to mind the herd. Wow, what a morning this was!
