Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Sharing is Caring

\"2015

Erik and I made a 6 day trek from Fort Worth, Texas all the way to Portland, Oregon and hiked and tent camped at each stop through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho before hitting the Oregon border. We stopped for a few hours to see Jackson Hole before we got to the Grand Tetons and were really impressed with this beautiful town. Hopefully someday we will get back in the Winter to do some snow skiing as it looks like a really good place to spend a winter vacation.

While the beauty of the west is awe inspiring what strikes me is how hard it must have been for the early settlers who came across the Rockies at the end of the 19th century. It may be beautiful now with the comforts of modern civilization but imagine no power, no grocery store, no central air and heat. And temperatures below zero. It was a little different place back then.

And while Erik and I \”rough it\” by modern day standards by never staying in a motel we do have the occasional indulgence like the Snake River Brewing Company where there is always something good to eat and drink without having to hunt or catch something. The early trappers that settled this area didn\’t have it quite this easy. I\’ll write more about this area in the future – Jackson Hole, The Tetons, and Yellowstone or hard to beat.
